African Habitat

Lion Addition

Lion Addition

We're ready to take out a wall at the end of the lion cage and make an L-shaped display twice as big as the existing exhibit. The front wall of the L will be glass; inside will be rocks, grass, logs, a pool, and a waterfall for Dandy and Dolly, the resident lions. The glassed wall will let people get close to the big cats in safety.

Elephant Addition
After we relocate the present train station, we'll enlarge the barn, camouflage it with rocks and trees, and expand by half again the elephants' moated paddock. Then we'll hve the room for the proper instigation of a breeding program for Sujatha and Little Mac.

South America
After the train leaves the Veldt you'll enter the expanded South American habitat, where llamas and rheas will roam in grassy comfort. Their present 50' x 120' corral will be converted to a tapir exhibit with grass, pools, and barns. At first glance, tapirs look like giant pigs. They're herbivorous and have a prehensile trunk-like muzzle to munch sugar cane and cocoa plants. Visitors may leave the train here and walk through the core zoo.
