Thanksgiving in Santa Barbara
Wednesday afternoon I drove to Santa Barbara for a Thanksgiving weekend with my brother Matt's family. He was scheduled for arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder that day, but it was expected to be minor. However, once the surgeon started the operation, a complete tear of the rotator cuff was detected, and Matt was under the knife for three hours instead of thirty minutes. And instead of a ten-day recovery time, he'll have to hold his right arm immobile strapped to his chest for six weeks, and probably six months of therapy to be able to return to his job, and a year before he can expect full recovery. |
