Vanessa auditioned for a stage musical and won one of the four main singing roles in The Taffetas. In the late 1950s, the four Taffeta sisters go onto a local talent show and sing, and win the right to go to a New York contest that might result in an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Rhea and I attended on Opening Night. (Actually, Rhea attended every night of the play's run--she also ran the concession stand during intermission.)

It was my first time trying out my new camera in public, and I didn't know how to calculate the exposures correctly. So these pictures are blurry and the colors are wrong. Oh well. The video of Vanessa and the girls singing Mr Sandman came out pretty good, though. |
