Scott and Mary Jane and I drove to Detroit for Xmas '76, and stayed in Detroit for a couple of weeks while we interviewed at Detroit ad agencies. Scott was hired as an art director on the Pontiac account, but I was told I didn't have enough experience.

On the drive back to California, we stopped to visit Ma & Pete in Jones, Oklahoma. This was the last time I ever saw Pete. We had a couple of drinks at a bar called The Councilman's Roost, owned by a Jones city councilman (he's the guy on the left).

Scott sold his Santa Barbara graphic design studio to his employee, Mark, who conveniently never paid any of the agreed-upon cash. Scott knew he was being suckered, as this piicture shows. Colin, Mark, Janet Planet and Scott using water cups as personality symbols.
