On Sunday, March 5, Matt drove me through torrential rain and mudslides to LAX, and I flew to Detroit in search of work. (On his way home, Matt was blocked by the mudslides at Rincon, got a ticket from the California Highway Patrol for trying to get through, and was stranded for two days before he could get home.)

On Thursday, March 9, I was hired as a copywriter on the Dodge account at BBDO.

On the 4th of July, Matt and Nancy got married.

I returned to Santa Barbara for a vacation in late October; by then, my nephew Luke was two months old.
