Gerald B. Campbell in World War II
My father joined the US Army late in 1942. He was 20. He was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division ("Hell On Wheels") and saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy Beach, and Bastogne (the Battle of the Bulge). After Normandy he was able to get photo supplies in towns they went through; he developed the film and made prints in the field for all the guys in his unit.
