June 28: Cross-Continent Car Cruise
Matt pulled the left front wheel off to look at the brakes, and found a serious problem: grease sprayed everywhere from the axel boot, usually a sign that you need a new boot kit installed, a messy disassembly job. But on closer inspection he found that the clip holding the boot on had sprung away; the boot wasn't torn, and all he had to do was put on a new clip and fill it up with grease. He gave me the job of scraping off all the sprayed grease from the inside of the wheel. Then he steam-cleaned both front wheels, and then rotated the front and back tires. Things look fine for the trip. |
